Abdul Habib Sayedkhil, police chief for eastern Kunar province says a senior commander of the Pakistani Taliban was among the killed.
He added that the attack took place while the militants were gathered for a meeting in the Chawgam area of Shigal district on Saturday.
There were no civilian casualties in the attack, according to the local officials.
Taliban yet to comment on the report.
Kunar, a restive province of Afghanistan borders Pakistan where according to the officials more often terrorists cross the border into Afghanistan and carry out terrorist activities.
