President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with representatives of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) on Friday and talked to them about the Kundoz hospital tragedy.
President Ghani said that the investigation needs to be completed to show who the information was obtained and the incident took place.
“Judgment should not be made before the investigation completes,” President Ghani said.
According to a statement released by the Presidential Palace, President Ghani told MSF envoys that he has orders security forces of Afghanistan not to target centers delivering humanitarian assistance.
“Neither any Afghan soldier entered the hospital nor have they violated Human Rights,” had he said.
President Ghani urged MSF to continue its operation in Afghanistan and assured the charity organization’s envoys that Afghan government will assist coalition forces in the investigation into Kundoz incident.
22 people including 12 MSF staffers were killed and several others wounded in the strike that faced international condemnation.
Taliban occupied several areas of Kundoz city on the evening of Monday last week after severe clashes with security forces.
They had been controlling the seized areas for about two days before Security forces backed by US airstrikes launched a large-scale operation to end their siege on those areas.
One of the US airstrikes hit a MSF hospital resulting in the deaths and injuries of dozens of people.
US forces have said that the airstrike was a mistake for which President Obama apologized to MSF.
