At least 10 lives have reportedly been lost and significant financial damages have been left behind as a result of the flood in the province of Logar, in eastern Afghanistan according to local Taliban government officials.
A devastating and disastrous flood swamped several parts of Pol-e-Alam, the provincial capital of Logar, on Thursday night, August 11.
Ten people, including three women, died as a result of torrential rains and flooding in the province’s center and parts of its districts, according to a tweet from the state-run Bakhtar news agency, which cited local Logar officials.
In a newsletter released by the Taliban Logar Police, Ahmadullah Anas, Taliban spokesperson for Logar police stated that this incident resulted in fatalities in addition to financial damages.
According to the Bakhtar report, the flood caused the destruction of hundreds of residential structures, thousands of acres of farming fields, and dozens of gardens.
A local said that hundreds of families in this area are homeless and displaced.
At the same time, floods in the provinces of Paktia, Maidan Wardak and Khost in south-eastern Afghanistan have also resulted in financial and human damages.
