Afghanistan beats Australian cricket club by 154 runs

Afghanistan cricketThe Afghanistan national cricket team defeated Western District cricket club in their second pre-World Cup practice match on Friday.

According to Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) the Afghan team defeated Western District club by 154 runs.

ACB officials said the practice match was played in One Day International (ODI) format where the Afghan batsmen scored 347 runs from 50 overs and by losing five wickets.

The officials further added Javid Ahmadi scored 169 runs and Nawroz Mangal 92 runs to set a target of 348 runs for the Western District cricket club.

On the bowling side Gulbadin Naib took three wickets, Aftab Alam two wickets, Javid Ahmadi two wickets, Hamid Hassan one wicket and Dawlat Zadran one wicket to restrict the Western District batsmen to 193 runs.

This is the second time Afghanistan cricket team is defeating the Western District cricket club in pre-World Cup practice match.

Afghanistan defeated the Western District cricket club by five wickets in the first pre-World Cup practice match on Wednesday.

The Afghanistan national cricket team on Friday left for Australia to participate in International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup which is due to kick off on 14th February.

Afghanistan will make its maiden appearance at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, which will be held between 14 February and 29 March.

The Afghanistan national cricket team will face Bangladesh in its opening match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2015 at Manuka Oval, Canberra on 18th February.

Afghanistan will face Sri Lank on 22nd February, scotland on 26th, Australia on 4th March, New Zealand on 8th March, and England on 13th March.
