Mohammad Masoum Stanikzai has been introduced to Wolesi Jirga or the lower house of parliament for a vote of confidence for the position of minister of defense.
Ajmal Obaid Abedi, spokesman for the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has confirmed the report.
He says Mohammad Masoum Stanikzai who was nominated for the position of minister for the Ministry of Defense by the president has been introduced to the House of Representatives for a vote of confidence.
If Mohammad Masoum Stanikzai receives the confidence of the House of Representatives, the cabinet of the National Unity Government will complete after about seven months since it was formed in September last year.
The nomination of Stanikzai for the Ministry of Defense was announced by the President in a gathering of International Contact Group at Presidential Palace last week.
Stanikzai has served as the Secretariat for the High Peace Council, National Security Advisor to ex-President Hamid Karzai and as the minister of communications.
