According to local authorities in eastern Logar province of Afghanistan, unknown gunmen on Sunday assassinated provincial Hajj and Islamic Affairs chief in this province.
Provincial security chief Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai confirming the report said the incident took place early Sunday morning on Kabul-Gardez highway.
He said the gunmen were in Afghan security forces uniform and managed to flee the area after killing provincial Hajj and Islamic Affairs chief.
No group including the Taliban militants have so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
In the meantime provincial security chief Gen. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai said he had personal issues with his cousins however he said it is yet not clear if they were behind the incident.
