The Head of the union of money exchangers in the western Farah province said that a young money exchanger died of heart attack after seeing the values of the dollar going high against the local currency (Afghani).
The Head of the union said that people owed him a large amount of dollars and were deeply depressed who finally died on Monday afternoon, December 13.
One US dollar was exchanged for 123 Afghani on Monday, the highest ever price of the dollar in Afghanistan.
The price of the dollar is now not only important for the money exchangers but also for all the common people in Afghanistan as it affects the prices of everything.
Many shops of flour and cooking oil closed on Monday in Kabul as 50KG of flour was sold at 3000 Afghani-exactly double the price of flour four months ago.
Many local transportation stopped and those who are still working have increase the fare as the prices of gasoline is over double compared with four month ago.
This all comes as over million people have lately been laid off and added to millions of other who hardly found less than a dollar a day.
There is no financial work and no construction projects for people to work in and earn money.
Afghanistan is really a humanitarian disaster if not addressed.
