Clashes among Taliban leaves 4 dead in Herat province

According to local authorities in western Herat province of Afghanistan, at least 7 Taliban militants were killed or injured following clashes among the Taliban fighters in Obe district.

The officials further added the clashes took place late Friday evening following disputes over distribution of money which was collected from the local residents.

A spokesman for Afghan police forces in western Afghanistan Abdul Rauf Ahmadi said at least 4 Taliban fighters were killed and 3 others were injured during the clashes.

Mr. Ahmadi further added Afghan civilians and security forces have not suffered any casualties.

Local residents in western Herat province say Taliban militants are sometimes forcing the residents of this province to collect money in order to pay for Mujahideens.

Taliban militants have group yet to comment regarding the reports.
