The government of Afghanistan plans to lodge a protest with Pakistan over cross-border incursion from the Pakistani territories inside the Afghan soil.
Afghan national Security Council (NSC) meeting chaired by President Hamid Karzai, instructed Afghan foreign affairs ministry to inform the Pakistani authorities regarding the cross-border incursions through diplomatic sources.
The decision to lodge a formal protest with Pakistan was taken after Afghan interior minister expressed concerns regarding the growing cross-border incursions from the Pakistani territories.
Interior minister Mohammad Omar Daudzoi said coordinated and systematic attacks have been carried out on Afghan border police check posts from the other side of the border during the recent days.
Afghanistan has continuously criticized Pakistan for cross-border incursions and failing to halt to cross-border operations by militants.
Afghan officials also accuse Pakistani military for cross-border shelling in eastern provinces of Afghanistan, specifically eastern Kunar and Nuristan during the recent years.
Local officials and residents in Kunar and Nuristan province have said that dozens of people have been killed or injured following the cross-border shelling.
The cross-border shelling by Pakistani military also resulted into clashes between the Afghan and Pakistani forces last year.
