A 21-year-old girl underwent a successful surgery in Kabul’s Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital in yet another medical breakthrough that helped her to walk after 21 years of disability.
The operation was conducted two weeks by surgeons of the hospital which helped the 21-year-old samana from Herat province to regain the ability to walk.
According to a report by the leading Afghan TV network – Tolo, the surgery was conducted by a team of surgeons of Sardar Mohammad Daud khan hospital.
This is not the first time Kabul’s Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital is witnessing a medical breakthrough.
Earlier, a complicated brain surgery of an Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier was performed in the same hospital which helped the victim to recover after being in coma condition for a period of four months.
The 24-year-old soldier Ata-ur-Rehman was injured after receiving a rocket shrapnel during a gun battle with the militants.
According to the surgeons, the cranium of the soldier which was badly damaged in militants attack, was removed in a bid to take out a shrapnel from the victim’s brain and would be replaced by another one.
The latest medical breakthroughs in Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital reflects the growing developments in the health sector of the country which suffered the most as other sectors due to decades of civil war.
Such complicated surgeries were not possible inside the country during the recent years and majority of the Afghans have been travelling to neighboring Pakistan and India for relatively complicated surgeries and treatment.
