The Natural Disaster Management Department in Paktia has reported that over 200 families severely impacted by the floods have received vital assistance within the province.
Nisar Ahmad Nijat, the Director of the Natural Disaster Management Department in Paktia, said that the distribution of essential food supplies, encompassing wheat, rice, and other provisions, has been distributed to these families.
Nijat further emphasized, In light of the situation, we earnestly appeal to international institutions, foundations, and governmental bodies to augment their support for the distressed people of Paktia.
Additionally, the afflicted families have made impassioned pleas for assistance, underscoring that many of them have endured the loss of their homes due to the devastating floods.
Following a recent series of flash flooding, the state Ministry for Disaster Management has reported a tragic loss of life and injuries in Afghanistan. The flooding has resulted in the unfortunate demise of at least 47 individuals, with an additional 57 people sustaining injuries across eleven provinces.
“At least 47 people have died, and 57 more have been wounded due to recent flooding in Maidan Wardak, Kabul, Kunar, Pakita, Khost, Nuristan, Nangarhar, Ghazni, Paktika, and Helmand,” according to Shafiullah Rahimi, head of the Ministry’s media office.
The official pointed out that in addition to causing loss of life, the floods wreaked havoc by destroying or causing severe damage to 500 residential houses and agricultural lands.
Sayed Hekmatullah Shamim reported that a tragic incident unfolded in Parwan Province
on Tuesday, where at least nine individuals lost their lives and seven others
sustained injuries due to sudden flash floods.
