Former captain of Afghanistan national cricket team Asghar Afghan retired from international cricket and will be playing his last international game against Namibia on Sunday, October 31.
Asghar Afghan announced his official retirement in a video clip and thanked all the fans, people of Afghanistan, and former Afghan cricketers who helped him come to the national team.
“Playing in the national team is the biggest dream for every player and leaving the national side is likewise the most difficult decision a player makes. I want to thank all the fans who kept us in their prayers and supported us throughout my cricketing career.” Said Afghan in his video.
Asghar Afghan played for sixteen years as a national cricket team player and was captain of the side for nearly seven years.
He was named as the most successful captain in the world who won the most matches in T20 format for Afghanistan.
During his career, he played 194 international matches, scored 5215 runs, made 2 entries and 19 half-centuries.
Asghar announced his retirement after millions of Afghans criticized him and his brother- KARIM JANAT plays on the national side- were criticized.
Karim Janat bowled the penultimate over in a thrilling match against Pakistan and conceded all the 24 runs needed.
Afghanistan will beat India.The Chaos in Kabul,is taking its toll on the team.The team has come a long way,and can easily be a
giant killer – but to sustain perfection – is a problem – especially in T20,where the time is short.
