The Afghan Foreign Affairs Minister Salahuddin Rabbani said Saturday that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will take swift action to prevent the unexpected expulsion of Afghan traders from United Arab Emirates.

Speaking to reporters in Kabul, Rabbani said the Chargé d’affaires of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Kabul has been summoned by the Foreign Ministry and the issue has been shared with them.

He said the UAE ambassador to Afghanistan will fly to Abu Dhabi on Sunday where he will share the issue regarding the expulsion of the Afghan traders with the relevant authorities.

According to Rabbani the UAE Chargé d’affaires had earlier assured that the issue of Afghan traders expulsion was due to some issues and ruled out political motive behind the decision by UAE authorities.

Over 600 Afghan traders based in UAE are waiting for their expulsion after the authorities cancelled their operating license.

A demonstration was also organized in Kabul last week where the protesters claimed that the traders will be expelled due to religious discrimination and for being Shi’ites and support Iran who oppose Saudi-led invasion on Yemen.
