Oman and Iran discuss mediation efforts as Araghchi returns to Pakistan and U.S. negotiation team plans next steps in talks.

Haitham bin Tariq and Abbas Araghchi discussed mediation efforts to end tensions between Iran and the United States, according to Omani state media.

Oman has played a key diplomatic role by hosting talks and facilitating indirect negotiations aimed at reducing regional tensions and preventing further escalation.

Muscat also described recent U.S. and Israel strikes on Iran as destabilizing and inconsistent with international law, echoing similar concerns raised by Turkey.

Araghchi, who recently visited Pakistan, is expected to return to Islamabad on Sunday evening for further discussions with Pakistani officials as mediation efforts continue.

Pakistan has emerged as an active diplomatic channel in recent weeks, hosting indirect talks and coordinating with regional actors to keep communication open between Washington and Tehran.

Officials say Araghchi’s return to Pakistan reflects ongoing shuttle diplomacy aimed at narrowing gaps and preparing the ground for possible renewed negotiations.

The U.S. negotiation team, including senior envoys, had initially planned to travel to Pakistan for talks, but scheduling changes and strategic considerations have complicated their direct participation.

Despite this, U.S. officials continue to engage through intermediaries and remote coordination, signaling that Washington remains interested in a negotiated outcome while avoiding premature commitments.
