Police in Pennsylvania said three law enforcement officers were killed and two others wounded in a shooting incident in the city of York.
Christopher Paris, Pennsylvania’s police commissioner, told reporters the gunman was also killed during the confrontation.
Authorities said the officers were responding to a domestic case that began the previous day when the shooting erupted.
York Hospital confirmed two of the wounded are in critical condition, and security measures in the city have been tightened as a precaution.
Officials have not released the names of the suspect or the officers. Paris noted that details of the incident cannot yet be disclosed due to the ongoing investigation.
The deadly clash has shocked York’s community and reignited concern about the rising number of fatal incidents involving U.S. law enforcement.
As investigations continue, officials stress that more information will be provided once the identities of those involved are confirmed and circumstances are fully examined.
