Vladimir Putin said no agreement to end the war in Ukraine was signed during his recent meeting with Donald Trump in Anchorage, adding that discussions on proposals to resolve the conflict remain ongoing.
Speaking in a televised interview with Russian state media, Putin said the talks had not produced a formal document but described them as part of a continuing diplomatic process. He also said recent attacks had disrupted parts of Russia’s fuel infrastructure and called for faster repairs, stronger air defenses and closer coordination among state agencies to protect civilians and critical economic facilities.
The Anchorage meeting marked the highest-level direct contact between Russian and U.S. leaders since the conflict entered a new phase. Washington has said diplomacy remains open but has stressed that any settlement must respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and be supported by Kyiv, while Moscow has continued to insist that its security concerns be addressed.
Despite renewed diplomatic engagement, fighting has continued across the battlefield. Russia and Ukraine have intensified long-range drone and missile strikes against energy facilities, military targets and transport infrastructure, with both sides accusing each other of targeting civilian areas and seeking to influence public opinion through sustained attacks.
Putin also said Russia would strengthen fuel supply routes to Crimea and expand production of air-defense systems, arguing that evolving battlefield conditions and the widespread use of advanced drones require continuous modernization of the country’s defensive capabilities. He accused Ukraine of using strikes on civilian infrastructure as part of an information campaign, claiming such attacks would not alter Russia’s military objectives.
