At least three senior Taliban leaders were arrested during military operations in western Nimroz and eastern Nuristan province of Afghanistan.
The interior ministry of Afghanistan following a statement said Sunday that the Taliban leaders arrested in Nimroz province were recognized as Mawlavi Abdul Rashid and Sofi Ali Shah.
The statement further added that the two Taliban leaders were arrested along with five other Taliban fighters .
Interior ministry said the group was involved in major explosions, ambushes and roadside bombings in various districts of western Nimroz province.
Another senior Taliban leader Mawlavi Fazal Akbar was arrested in a separate operation in eastern Nuristan province of Afghanistan, interior ministry said.
The statement also added that the Taliban leader was involved in plotting major terrorist attacks and sponsorship of terrorist groups in Nuristan province.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.
