The Afghan intelligence operatives arrested a group of thirteen militants involved in major terror related activities in northeastern Takhar province of Afghanistan.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the detained individuals were involved in terrorist activities, including assassination of religious clerics, tribal elders and kidnappings.
NDS said the intelligence operatives have also confiscated some weapons and explosives including an Ak-47 rifle, a pistol and hand grenades from the detained individuals.
The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the detention of the suspected militants so far.
Takhar is among the relatively volatile provinces in northeastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants are actively operating in a number of its remote districts.
The Afghan intelligence earlier announced a group of suspected militants including Taliban’s shadow judge in Darqad district of Takhar.
The Taliban militants took control of Darqad district following an offensive launched around five months and was late retaken by the security forces.
