The former Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal reacted to President Donald Trump’s remarks regarding wiping Afghanistan off the face of the earth, saying Genghis Khan and other invaders had same intentions.
In a statement posted online, Zakhilwal said Genghis Khan and the invaders before and after him had a similar intention but they came and go.
However, he said Afghanistan still shines as a start in the sky.
Zakhilwal further added that the statement of Trump is a gift to those who welcomed and still welcome the test of all weapons on their villages including the test of Mother of All Bombs.
Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson Sediq Sediqqi said Afghanistan will remain in the scene of the world politics with strength and glory.
Sediqi further added that the government of Afghanistan has sought explanation through diplomatic channels regarding the remarks of President Trump, considering the comprehensive bilateral ties between the two nations.
Trump on wiping Afghanistan off the face of the earth:
Speaking during a press conference with the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in Washington, Trump said “I have plans on Afghanistan that, if I wanted to win that war, Afghanistan would be wiped off the face of the Earth. It would be gone. It would be over in — literally, in 10 days. And I don’t want to do — I don’t want to go that route.”
However, he said “So we’re working with Pakistan and others to extricate ourselves. Nor do we want to be policemen, because basically we’re policemen right now. And we’re not supposed to be policemen. We’ve been there — we’ve been there for 19 years, in Afghanistan. It’s ridiculous.”
He also added “And I think Pakistan helps us with that because we don’t want to stay as policemen. But if we wanted to, we could win that war. I have a plan that would win that war in a very short period of time. You understand that better than anybody.”
