Local Taliban officials in Farah province of southwestern Afghanistan state that unidentified gunmen shot and killed a young man while also injuring another person.

According to Abdulhai Sabawoon, the Taliban caretaker government’s Director of Information and Culture Department for Farah province, the incident took place on Sunday, the 14th of August.

According to the victim’s relatives who spoke to the media, when the assailants started shooting at the young man, another person was also injured.

The perpetrator has not yet been caught, and neither the motive nor the explanation for the murder has been made public by the Taliban security officials in Farah province.

At this time, unemployment, poverty, and hunger are at their highest levels in Afghanistan. As a result, the number of homicides, suicides, target and honor killings, and family disputes has increased.

Despite the Taliban’s assurances that the group has been able to maintain security in the country and its people secure, repeated killings and other heinous crimes persist in several provinces across the country.
