The Wall Street Journal reported that if Donald Trump wins the U.S. election, he intends to appoint Elon Musk as his advisor. According to the report, Trump and Musk have discussed ways in which the Tesla owner could have “official involvement and influence” on U.S. economic policies and border security.
According to the report, published on Wednesday, Musk has also informed the former U.S. president of his efforts to persuade powerful U.S. capitalists not to support Joe Biden in the upcoming election.
The Wall Street Journal, citing informed sources without providing further details, wrote that Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and another American capitalist, Nelson Peltz, have also discussed financially supporting a “data-based project to prevent voter fraud.”
Brian Hughes, a spokesman for the former U.S. president’s campaign, told the newspaper that only Donald Trump would decide “what role a person will play in his presidency.”
Elon Musk has not responded to a request for comment on the report.
Over the past few days, Elon Musk has repeatedly posted images of Trump on “X” (formerly Twitter), essentially promoting a second term for Trump and asking his followers for their opinions on Trump.
Sources from the Wall Street Journal warned that the negotiations are by no means in advanced stages, and even if Trump manages to win the election, it may not result in Musk holding an official position. However, these discussions indicate the former U.S. president’s ongoing alliance with conservative business leaders.
It is said that Trump and Musk speak on the phone several times a month, with the Tesla giant contacting his ally at Mar-a-Lago via Trump’s personal phone. The two have discussed various topics, including technology, the U.S. Space Force, and voter fraud – a subject of interest to Trump related to his conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.
In March, after meeting with Donald Trump in Florida, Elon Musk announced that he would not financially support any of the U.S. presidential candidates.
However, Elon Musk has recently been widely supportive of Republicans.
