The World Food Programme has announced that it has distributed food supplies and cash to nearly 7.9 million people in Afghanistan over the past month. This aid aims to strengthen local communities, prevent malnutrition, and enhance students’ learning abilities.

In its report released on Wednesday, the organization highlighted the efforts made to combat malnutrition and improve the education of students. This humanitarian assistance is crucial amidst the ongoing challenges faced by Afghan communities.

Additionally, a report shared on the social media platform X emphasized the provision of nutritious meals to over 31,000 children in the past six months. Urgent aid has also been provided to more than 13,000 pregnant and lactating mothers suffering from severe malnutrition.

Despite these efforts, international relief agencies, including the World Food Programme, continue to warn of budgetary constraints and the increasing needs of the Afghan population.

Recent posts on social media by the organization highlight the dire situation in Afghanistan, where millions suffer from acute hunger. With over 43 million estimated population, more than half are forced to reduce their food intake.

The findings of the World Food Programme indicate that at least 16 million people in Afghanistan experience food insecurity daily, reflecting the severity of the crisis.

It is worth noting that Afghanistan faces one of the most serious humanitarian crises globally, exacerbated by road closures during the winter months.

Amidst these challenges, continued international support and collaborative efforts are imperative to address the urgent humanitarian needs of the Afghan population.
