A woman has been arrested in Afghanistan’s western Herat province in connection with the death of an 18-month-old child who reportedly fell from the fifth floor of a residential building in Herat city.
Bakhtar News Agency reported on Saturday, August 8, citing Herat police spokesperson Sayed Masoud Hosseini, that the incident occurred at a residential building in the city.
Hosseini said the woman worked as a cleaner at the family’s home and was one of three women employed there. He said she allegedly confessed during an initial investigation to throwing the child from the fifth floor.
Police said preliminary findings identified the woman as responsible for the incident, but the authorities have not publicly provided details about a possible motive or the circumstances leading to the child’s death.
