Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban Abdul Salaam Hanafi said that Afghanistan’s current economic and currency situation is stable and that they have enough amount of money to pay the salaries of civil servants of the government.
Speaking at a news conference in Kabul on Tuesday, December 14, Hanafi said that they can address the needs of the country from the internal sources of Afghanistan and the absence of corruption will make the process more transparent.
Abdul Salaam Hanafi pledged to provide the market with enough amount of dollars to control the value of dollars and stabilize the local currency (Afghani).
It comes after the highest ever price of dollars against Afghani made the prices of nearly everything double in Afghanistan.
“The economic commission decided to take action against the smugglers of dollars in Afghanistan and all the security forces are directed to hold accountable those who smuggle dollars.” Said Hanafi.
He also said that no one will be allowed to use other currency than Afghani in Afghanistan and asked media and religious scholars to cooperate in this regard.
In the meantime, he called on the US to unfreeze the assets of Afghanistan and asked other countries including the US to come to Afghanistan and invest in different sectors.
