A senior commander of the Russian mercenary group said that Wagner fighters led by Yevgeny Prigozhin are preparing to leave Russia for Belarus in the near future.

Since the June 23-24 failed mutiny, the exact whereabouts of Prigozhin and his top commanders remain unknown.

Under the terms of a deal that defused Wagner group’s mutiny against Russia’s military leadership, the mercenary fighters were moving to Belarus, a senior commander of the group said.

Following the aborted mutiny in Russia, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson of Kremlin announced that Wagner Group Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin would move to Belarus with President Lukashenko’s mediation.

This comes as Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko earlier in the week stated that the head of the private military group Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin is actually in Russia, not in Belarus, adding Wagner fighters are in their camps.

Earlier, Reuters reported that a fighter jet belonging to Prigozhin had entered Belarus three days after the riot against Moscow.

Reports emerged that Wagner fighters are now taking vacation until early August, on Prigozhin’s orders, before moving to Belarus.

Despite Russia reportedly dropping the criminal case against Yevgeny Prigozhin, investigations are still going about Wagner Chief and his group’s failed uprising.

“We have to prepare bases, training grounds, coordinate with local governments and administrations, organize interaction with the law enforcement agencies of Belarus and establish logistics,” he was quoted by the “Yevgeny Prigozhin on Telegram” Reuters reported.
