(Tolo News) – Afghan lawmakers for the fourth time Wednesday voted for House Speaker, but no candidates could win the seat.
On Wednesday five parliamentarians ran for House Speaker, but none of them could gain 50+1 votes in the house.
Secretary of the House of Representatives said internal regulations of the house are likely to change in the coming sessions.
New decisions would be made on abstention votes, the secretary said.
The five candidates in the first phase of votes of House Speaker included Baktash Siawash, Homa Sultani, Sayed Ishaq Gilani, Obaidullah Ramin and Sediq Ahmad Osmani.
Mr Siwash won 14 votes, Mrs Sultani won 48, Mr Gilani 41, Obaidullah Ramin 19 and Mr Osmani 94.
And because no candidates made it up to 50+1, the votes went into second round and this time Mr Osmani and Ms Sultani competed for the seat.
Again the two candidates couldn’t win 50+1 votes and the session ended with no result.
The fourth round candidates finally missed their chances of leading the House of Representatives.
