Afghanistan Independent Election Commission has announced that the voters number will decrease after non-biometric votes are filtered and removed from the system.
Earlier today the total number of voters were reported 2.69 million, however, the officials at the election commission office have said this figure will change when the non-biometric votes are filtered down.
The reported number of voters are not accurate and finalized, said the IEC spokesperson, Abdul Aziz Ibrahimi.
Ibrahimi added that the non-biometric votes will be filtered down according to the IEC procedures and mandate, as a result of which the total number of voters will be decreased.
If the biometric data and the result sheets matches, the votes results for the ballots will be verified as valid, if the paper and the data on the device do not match, it will be marked invalid and won’t be counted, said Ibrahimi.
This comes as, Abdul Latif Pedram, another running candidate speaking in a press conference said no more than 1.4 million population have voted.
The numbers presented in the UN Assembly by Afghanistan NSA, Hamdullah Mohib was misleading and incorrect, criticized Pedram.
The country will face crisis if the election results are announced without filtering the fraud votes favored to a particular candidate, he added.
The preliminary election results will be officially announced on the 20th October 2019.
