The absence of the Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli in the historic test match against Afghanistan has been confirmed after a top English county side Surrey confirmed his participation in June tour of England.

“Surrey County Cricket Club are delighted to announce the signing of India captain Virat Kohli for the month of June,” the Surrey Cricket Club said in a statement on Thursday.

Alec Stewart, Surrey’s Director of Cricket has said “We are thrilled to have signed the biggest name in world cricket for the month of June. Playing and training alongside Virat will be a massive benefit for our players who will have the opportunity to learn so much from him.”

This comes as the Afghan national cricket team is expected to appear against India in their maiden test match next month.

The match is considered as historic since it is the first time the Afghan team is participating in an official international test match.

India will host the Afghan team for their maiden test match which is scheduled to be played in Bengaluru from 14th June to 18th June.
