Afghanistan received a consignment of 1,000 oxygen from Uzbekistan on Saturday morning, officials confirmed.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan confirmed that the donation occurred in presence of Ismatullah Irgashev, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan on Afghanistan, to assist the country with the COVID crisis.
Ismatullah Irgashev has handed over the consignment of oxygen to Balkh Governor in Hairatan Port.
This comes as several major hospitals in Afghanistan have come close to running out of oxygen as the number of cases are being increased everyday.
According to Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan reported over 1024 new COVID-19 cases and 37 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan has also received 700,000 doses of Chinese vaccine and the vaccination will begin from this week.
