Colonel Dave Butler, a spokesman for the U.S. Forces for Afghanistan (USFOR-A) has rejected the Taliban claims regarding Helmand attack which was carried out against Camp Shorabak last week.

“The Taliban continues to try and turn losses and crimes into imaginary victories by their lies,” Colonel Butler said.

He also added “They claim they killed hundreds of coalition forces last week in Helmand.  They killed zero.  They claim they continue their violence to avenge the deaths of innocents when they are the ones killing the Afghan people.”

“I don’t know who they think believes these lies, I do know their energy would be more productive if directed towards seizing a historic opportunity for peace,” Colonel Butler said.

This comes as a group of Taliban militants launched an attack on Camp Shorabak in Helmand last week which according to local officials claimed the lives of more than 20 Afghan soldiers.

The attack was reportedly launched by a group of at least 20 Taliban militants and suicide bombers.
