Saturday, December 31, 2011 – The United States of America urges for a rapid momentum in Afghan peace talks with the Taliban militants.

US officials quoted by the Associated Press said, US administration is keen to double the peace talks efforts with the Taliban militants by summer next year.

A senior US official quoted by Associated Press said, one of the main motive behind the speedup in peace talks efforts with the Taliban group would be to recognize the main areas where the involved parties can reach to an agreement but the officials in the meantime insisted that the peace talks would require more additional time.

The two US officials speaking on the condition of anonymity said, US Department of State officials and White House officials are keen to continue to their secret peace talks with the Taliban group in Europe and Gulf regions.

The officials also said, the peace talks with the Taliban group previously witnessed some Ups and Downs but there has been some progress in this regard and the peace talks has reached to a critical point.

According to Associated Press, the main motive behind an improve in peace talks was the establishment of the Taliban liaison office in Qatar and the decision to free five Taliban members from the cell.

According to reports, the Taliban group has also been urged with the main conditions to ensure they have eliminated their links with the al Qaeda group, accept the elected government of Afghanistan and continue to peace talks with goodwill.

In the meantime, Abdul Hakim Mujahid Deputy of the Afghan High Peace Council and former member of the Taliban group in United Nations said, establishment of Taliban liaison office in Qatar will have positive impacts on the Afghan peace talks.
