Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister, said that the US is allegedly trying to interfere in Afghanistan affairs once again.

Lavrov accused the United States of attempting to meddle in Afghanistan’s internal affairs once more, said on Friday while speaking on the sidelines of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

According to Lavrov, there are still terrorist organizations in the country that receive US support and are opposed to the Taliban.

Lavrov continued, “Despite the grave risks posed by such actions, the US is trying to re-inject its military infrastructure into the area surrounding Afghanistan and Central Asia.”

Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Minister stressed that Russia will firmly resist such attempts.

Lavrov expressed hope that the decision to establish the SCO-Afghanistan group would be quickly implemented because Afghanistan required urgent action.

The SCO-Afghanistan group was established to ensure peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.

Earlier, the SCO member states also expressed concern about security threats from Afghanistan to the member states.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a regional intergovernmental body encompassing eight permanent members and four observers. The member states include China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, India, and Pakistan.
