The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in a statement on Tuesday, September 28 said that the US has no right and is illegally occupying the airspace of Afghanistan.

The Taliban say that the US’s drones have recently been seen to be flying over the airspace of Afghanistan which is in violation of the international laws and the pledges of the United States.

“This violation of international law has to be rectified and stopped.” Reads the statement.

The statement reads that the government of the Taliban is safeguarding the land and aerial space of Afghanistan and all the countries including the US must respect the international laws and pledges and have to get engaged with Afghanistan based on mutual respect.

Earlier, Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby had said that the US needs drone attacks against terrorists in Afghanistan and they do not need permission from the Taliban.

Kirby also said that he was not sure to be needing such permission in the future.
