The US force conducted airstrikes in Achin and Nazian districts of eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, leaving at least 4 ISIS Khurasan (ISIS-K) militants dead.

The provincial security commandment in a statement said Saturday that the airstrikes were carried out in the two districts on Friday.

The statement further added that three ISIS Khurasan militants were killed and one of their Dshk heavy machine gun was destroyed during the airstrike conducted in Bagh Dara area of Achin district.

The US forces also conducted airstrike in Nazian district targeting the ISIS Khurasan militants in Spin Zhai area, leaving one militant dead.

According to the provincial security commandment, the local residents and security personnel on the ground did not suffer any casualty during the airstrikes.

Earlier, the provincial government had said at least six militants affiliated with the Taliban and ISIS Khurasan groups have been killed and five others sustained injuries during the separate operations conducted in Haska Mina and Khogyani districts.

Nangarhar has been among the relatively calm provinces since the fall of the Taliban regime in 2001 but the anti-government armed militants have been attempting to expand their foothold in this province during the recent years.
