The US Special Envoy to Afghanistan, Thomas West, expressed support for the request of the United Nations human rights reporter regarding investigations into deadly attacks in the Dasht-e-Barchi district.

West said on his social media platform X that there should be a “full investigation” into the attacks on Hazaras.

Meanwhile, Richard Bennett, the UN special rapporteur on human rights in Afghanistan, said that a thorough and transparent investigation should be conducted to identify the perpetrators of the Dasht-e-Barchi attacks and hold them accountable and described these attacks as “horrific.”

“Terrible reports of multiple deaths and injuries in a 3rd explosive attack on Hazaras in under a month, latest targeting a civilian bus in Dasht-e-Barchi district, Kabul. I urge a full transparent investigation to identify perpetrators and hold them accountable,” Bennett said.

West shared Bennett’s request on his social media account, writing, “We lament tragic loss of lives in the third attack on Hazaras in less than a month.” He added, “These senseless attacks must stop, and urged a full investigation.”

On Tuesday evening, at least seven people were killed and 20 others were wounded in a bomb blast on a passenger bus in Dasht-e-Barchi, west of Kabul. ISIS claimed responsibility for this attack.

In the past month, this was the third explosion in Dasht-e-Barchi, Kabul. The two explosive incidents occurred in a sports club, resulting in the death of at least four people and injuries to nearly ten others.
