At least three Taliban militants were killed following a US drone strike in eastern Kunar province.
Provincail security chief, Gen. Abdul Habib Syed Khel said the airstrike was carried out late Sunday night in Marwara district.
Gen. Syed Khel further added that three Taliban militants were killed following the airstrike.
The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.
Kunar is among the volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militant groups are actively operating in its various districts.
Kunar is also home to foreign militants including the Pakistani Taliban – Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters. Militants from the other side of Durand Line frequently cross into Afghanistan and carry out attacks against the Afghan security forces.
