The U.S. Department of State and Boston University will hold a meeting on “Women’s Economic Resilience in Afghanistan” on February 27.

Rina Amiri and Thomas West, representatives from the United States, are among the organizers of this session.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken will also speak there.

This meeting is held within the framework of the “Coalition for Women’s Economic Resilience in Afghanistan” initiative. The U.S. Secretary of State launched this coalition in September 2022.

According to the published statement, the meeting will be held at the U.S. Department of State headquarters.

Organizers of this meeting have stated that it will focus on vital investments, participation, and necessary policies to accelerate the economic progress, entrepreneurship, and education of Afghan women.

Since the Taliban took control of the country, the economy has worsened, and many projects funded by the international community have stopped, causing devastating effects on the people.

They banned Afghan women from working with national and international aid agencies, which had a further impact on the people, especially Afghan women.

The meeting comes as Afghanistan faces a severe humanitarian crisis due to the current situation, exacerbated by the deportation of Afghan refugees by neighboring countries.

Most Afghan refugees, estimated at over half a million, who returned from neighboring countries, face devastating situations. They lack job opportunities, shelter, medical care, food, and water.

As a result, their return has been difficult, with many struggling to find necessities for survival. This has added to the already challenging circumstances in Afghanistan.
