The US has been reaching out to armed groups that oppose the current Afghan government and secretly financing them, as per Russia’s Presidential envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, media reports said.
Kabulov said that the US military, during its deployment in Kabul, “established ties with the opponents of the Afghanistan government.”
In doing so, the US wants to retaliate for its shameful military-political defeat in Afghanistan and prevent restoring peace in the turbulent country, he added.
He also said that “the United States is contacting armed opposition in Afghanistan and covertly sponsoring Islamic State, who are aimed at undermining not only the stability of our Central Asian partners but also the security of Russia.”
After the pulling out of US troops from Afghanistan, the current regime of the Taliban took control of power in August 2021 without any resistance from the Afghan military.
Meanwhile, The international community has not recognized the current regime, imposing sanctions and freezing assets. The current situation in the country, along with four decades of war, put enormous pressure on the people at a time when millions of people require urgent humanitarian assistance, said officials.
