The Afghanistan US Democratic Peace and Prosperity Council (DPPC) has held a series of meeting with Afghan parliament members and reiterated the United States’ support to Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.

The Council which is working to promote the interests of the young generation of Afghans and create strong relations between the US Congress and the Afghan parliament has met with MPs Ajmal Rahmani, Mir Haidar Afzaly, and Naheed Farid online.

A press release published by DPPC reads that the purpose of the meeting was to ask Congress to exercise its legislative power in a way that can protect the Afghan people from a Taliban military takeover.

“We requested Congress take immediate action to boost the morale and capability of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.” Reads the statement.

The Afghan MPs have outlined that the women and children are subjected to threats posed by the Taliban’s military offensive and assured that the US Aerial support will help protect these vulnerable people.

The MPs too asked for targeted support to the most pressing needs of ANDSF in particular aircraft maintenance, logistics, and air combat support for the Air Force.

Meanwhile, the US congressmen and women expressed concern over the Taliban’s recent offensive and pledged financial support to the people and security forces of Afghanistan.

The DPPC promised to continue supporting Afghanistan and plans to continue the meetings with Afghan parliament members which will too include visits by these MPs to the US.
