The US has announced that it will send additional military supplies and equipment worth $725 million to further strengthen Ukraine to counter the unprovoked conflict that Russia has started.
According to a statement from the US Department of Defense on Friday, October 14, the US has authorized another $725 million worth of military package for Ukraine to meet its defense and security needs as it fights back against the Russian invasion.
Since August 2021, the Biden Administration has authorized 23 equipment withdrawals from the Defense Department’s inventories for Ukraine, bringing the total US military assistance to Ukraine to an amount of $18.2 billion.
The statement states that the new package includes artillery rocket systems, ammunition, remote anti-armor mine systems, anti-tank weapons, missiles, multipurpose wheeled vehicles, and other sophisticated military equipment.
Following the NATO defense ministers’ meeting in the Belgian capital of Brussels, where Ukraine was promised defense equipment, the US has made a new commitment of providing another military package.
The statement also added that the US will continue to collaborate with its Allies and partners to send Ukraine essential capabilities in order to meet Ukraine’s evolving battlefield needs.
The new move by the US follows the pledges of countries at the Defense Ministers’ meeting in Brussels and after the Russian president announced the illegal annexation of four Ukrainian territories.
