
The United States embassy in Pakistan announced $48 million in aid for Afghan refugees in Pakistan and the hosting community as part of the pledges the country made.
The embassy on its Twitter post said that it was grateful for Pakistan’s generosity in hosting Afghan refugees.
“Pleased to note that more than $48 million of the newly announced U.S. humanitarian assistance is for Afghan refugees and host communities in Pakistan. We are deeply grateful to Pakistan’s generosity in hosting Afghan refugees and proud to support them.” Reads the Twitter post.
The embassy further added that the aid brought the total number of US support to the Afghan refugees in Pakistan to $262 million by 2022.
Meanwhile, the state department spokesperson Ned Price said that his country is working with Pakistan in stabilizing Afghanistan where human rights are protected.
It comes as there are still three million Afghan refugees living in neighboring Pakistan while millions are also settled in Iran.
