Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the allocation of $275 million in new weapons and equipment to Ukraine as part of the United States’ ongoing support of the country.

In a press statement on Friday, May 24, Mr. Blinken stated that this package includes HIMARS artillery ammunition, 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, Javelin anti-tank missiles, anti-armour mines, and protective equipment against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats.

It is worth mentioning that the new U.S. military package is part of Washington’s efforts to help Ukraine counter Russia’s offensive near Kharkiv.

This comes after President Joe Biden signed a bill in late April to resume the shipment of weapons to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

It is noteworthy that Congress has long opposed this bill, valued at $95 billion. The bill allocates $61 billion for Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the West has been the largest supplier of military aid to Ukraine.
