At least five militants affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed in an airstrike conducted in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
According to the local government officials, the airstrike was carried out on Saturday in the vicinity of the restive Achin district.
The officials further added that the US unmanned aerial vehicles targeted the loyalists of the ISIS terrorist group in Mamand area of Achin, leaving five of them dead.
According to the officials, several light and heavy weapons belonging to the ISIS militants were also destroyed in the airstrike. The anti-government armed militant groups including the ISIS insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.
Earlier, at least eleven militants affiliated with the terror group were killed in separate drone strikes conducted by the US forces on Thursday and Friday in this province.
The 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan army in a statement said Saturday that the US military carried out an airstrike in Deh Bala district on Friday, targeting a group of insurgents carrying weapons on two horses, leaving three ISIS militants dead and as a result the two horses were also killed.
In the meantime, the 201st Silab in a separate statement said Friday that eight ISIS militant were killed and three others were wounded in a similar airstrike on Thursday.
