UNSC Condemns Kabul blasts, Asked for Perpetrators to Be Brought to Justice

The United Nations Security Council condemned the recent explosion in the Afghan capital Kabul and asked for the organizers, financers, sponsors, and perpetrators to be held accountable and be brought to justice.

Members of the UNSC in a press release said any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever, and by whomsoever committed.

“The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the horrendous terrorist attack against the Abdul Rahim-e-Shahid High School and Mumtar Education Center in the Dasht-e-Barchi area of Kabul, Afghanistan, on 19 April 2022. The attack which took place in the month of Ramadan resulted in several killed and dozens injured including students.” Reads parts of the statement.

Additionally, the press release reaffirmed the right to education for all Afghans adding that education for all contributes to the achievements of peace and stability.

The council called on all states to combat by all means and in accordance with the International principles, threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts.
