According to local authorities in western Ghor province of Afghanistan, at least 13 people were kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Chahar Sada district in this province.
Provincial governor spokesman Abdul Hai Khatibi confirming the report said the individuals were kidnapped two days back by unknown gunmen.
Mr. Khatibi further added the identities of those kidnapped are not known yet and the main motive behind the hostage taking is also unclear.
This comes as hostage taking and assassination of Afghan civilians has dramatically increased in a number of provinces of Afghanistan during the recent months.
Afghan police forces discovered the dead bodies of at least 6 Afghan civilians who were shot dead by unknown gunmen on Kabul-Kandahar high in eastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan two days back.
Gen. Mohammad Hussain provincial security chief for eastern Ghazni province said the individuals were killed on Friday in Kabul-Kandahar highway.
The individuals were shot by unknown gunmen and signs of bullets were seen on their bodies and faces.
No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
