Unknown Gumen Stormed A Wedding Party In Nangahar Province

Thursday, June 09 – According to a provincial spokesperson, at least nine people have been killed and five others were wounded following an attack by unidentified gunmen in a wedding party in eastern Afghanistan overnight.
According to Ahmad Zia Abdulzai spokesman for Nangarhar province, women and children were among the casualties. The incident took place in Dur Baba district and it is said that the groom was a relative of the district chief of Dur Baba district.
He further added that at least nine people were killed in the incident including five others injured when the wedding party came under fire by opposition militants in Dur Baba district.
The gunmen started targeting the house with AK047 assault rifles and stormed the house when the party was being held.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack yet but Taliban and other insurgents frequently target government officials as well as police and army in Afghanistan.
For the past 10 years Taliban insurgents have been waging insurgency against President Hamid Karzai’s government and the foreign forces. There are around 130,000 US-led foreign forces which are in Afghanistan to support stabilizing the country.
The eastern parts of Afghanistan have recently witnessed wave of violence by the militant insurgents.
