Local security officials said an army officer and his driver were killed on Tuesday morning in Kabul.

The incident occurred in PD 12 of Arzan Qimat area Kabul city.

During the unidentified gunmen shooting the army officer’s driver was also killed, sources told media.

So far, the identities of the victims were not released and Kabul police have not yet commented on the incident.

No group or individual has yet claimed responsibility for the Attack.

Earlier, Security officials in Balkh province say an Afghan Air Force officer was assassinated by unidentified gunmen in Mazar-e-Sharif.

Mohammad Hanif Rezayi, a spokesman for the 209th Shaheen Corps, told the media, this incident took place on Sunday afternoon.

According to Rezayi, the incident happened in the Kart-e-Zaraat area in PD9 of Mazar-e-Sharif, the city of Balkh province.

This comes as, last week, unknown gunmen assassinated the chief physician of the military’s 209th Shaheen corps in Mazar-e-Sharif

However, the number of targeted attacks on security forces and government employees has escalated dramatically in the past few recent months.
