Taliban militants have gunned down a local Mullah in southwestern Nimroz province.

Haji Hakim, Mullah of Noori Grand Mosque and his nephew were going back to home after offering prayers at the mosque when they came under the attack of unidentified gunmen in Chakhansor District last night.

Mohammad Afzal, governor of Chakhansor District said that Haji Hakim died on the spot but his nephew survived.

He said the gunmen who were riding on a motorbike escaped from the area following the attack.

As per the information provided by the district governor, Haji Hakim was Mullah of Noori Grand Moque and secretariat of the district Shura.

Taliban have claimed responsibility for the killing.
