Khabib Nurmagomedov an Avar Russian professional mixed martial artist, announced his emotional retirement with his latest victory against Justin Gaethje, an American professional mix martial artist, at The Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Khabib defended his Lightweight Championship title by technical submission with a triangle choke at the UFC octagon on Saturday, October 24th.
The unrivaled lightweight champion, departs the octagon with a 29-0 career record and 13-0 UFC record.
After his latest win, Khabib said, “It was my last fight, no way I am going to come here, without my Father”.
“He is one of the toughest human beings on the planet,” UFC president Dan White said, after the 32-year-old Russian fighter said it was his first time fighting without his father and officially announced his retirement.
Rumors indicate the toughness of Khabib on wining his latest fight as he was admitted for a broken foot three weeks ago at a hospital.
Khabib in Dagestan, began wrestling from an early age, he has reportedly started at the age of eight under the tutelage of his father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.
He was the undefeated UFC Lightweight Champion from April 2018 until his retirement in October 2020.
