Ukraine’s former President Petro Poroshenko predicted three possible scenarios to end the war in Ukraine at Kyiv Security Forum held from May 25-26.
While addressing at Kyiv Security Forum, former President Petro Poroshenko, said either his country should join the NATO alliance or else it will likely face a similar situation to that of Afghanistan and Israel – a scenario desperately demeaned by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to him.
To clarify his thoughts about the possible scenario in Ukraine, he said, “A dictatorship government will be established in the country, Kyiv would not join NATO, no security guaranty will be given to us and we will not receive any weapons to fight.”
Poroshenko urged Ukrainian politicians to remain united towards the country’s national interests and prevent Ukraine from turning into Afghanistan, according to the reports published on the Kyiv Security Forum website.
“Democracy in Ukraine should be protected. “Only fools would propose shutting down the media, persecuting the opposition and helping the security forces put pressure on those suspected of disloyalty to the authorities,” Ex-president said.
“When everyone says it is necessary to fight propaganda, I always say one simple thing: it is not the Russian people who speak the language of Putin and Russian TV channels, but it is Russian TV channels and Putin who speak the language of the Russian people. It was almost always like that,” Vitaly Portnikov, a journalist and author said.
Teona Akubardia, a Georgian member of Parliament emphasized that the security of the Euro-Atlantic space is impossible without security in the Black Sea region. And this security can be ensured by the membership of both Georgia and Ukraine in the NATO alliance.
